Harriers Update - June 2025

Apologies for the unplanned break. Our comms team is presently just one person so bear with while we figure a newsletter schedule that's sustainable going forward! 

Committee Members

At the AGM in April there were a couple of changes behind the scenes.

Chairman and Vice Chairman

Nick Wilson and Barry Yates stood down as chair and vice chair after many years of hard work. We're very grateful for all of their efforts in recent times.

Neither of them are going anywhere though (we won't let them!)

Barry is still a valuable member of the committee and Nick has taken on the role of Head Coach.

Thank you both!

Taking over those roles are Chris Hamer Hodges as the chair and Andy Parkes as vice chair

This means a bit of shuffling round as Paul Smith will take over Chris's previous job as Road and Men's Team Manger and Garry Hodgkins takes over the men's captains role Paul has now vacated.

We also welcome Dean Bateman as a new member of the committee.

Coaching and Run Leading

It's not just the committee who help keep the club going but coaches and run leaders are vitally important. Without them there would be no club.

There are multiple different routes to getting involved in coaching.

We're on the lookout for new coaches or developing existing coaches and run leaders at the club and we'd like to do everything we can to support you on journey.

Events

Nuneaton Club Championships - Wednesday 19th August

We're putting together a timetable for a club championships event. This will be for the whole club, all ages and abilities.

Before we put a timetable together we need to get an idea of what kind of events we'll need to put on.

To support that we'd like people to fill out this survey for themselves or their child. Totally anonymous, it's just to help us figure out what's needed.

Youth Representation

As the saying goes, "children are the future"

The committee are very aware that decisions are made for the young people in the club and they aren't involved in that process. So we're looking to get some young people involved either by having some youth representatives on the committee or even forming a committee of young people.

We have some very impressive young people at our club and we'd love for them to get involved.

We're still working through what that looks like and we'll be following up to ask for opinions and ideas as we figure out the details but if you're between 14 and 25 years old and think this is something you would be interested in please drop an email to comms@nuneatonharriers.org.uk
