Sprint and hurdles event group
The 7.30 pm sprints group is coached by Viv Kirkland, sprint/sprint hurdles coach, and Derek Hateley assistant coach. Sessions are tailored to the athlete according to age and sprinting experience. Athletes are instructed how to warm up for training and competition.
Each session includes sprint specific warm-up drills and mobilisation followed by a track session which varies according to time of year and forthcoming competition but will include, style, technique, correct position on the track, i.e. bend runs, starts, and relay baton changeovers. Athletes are encouraged to complete the session but no pressure is put on them to do so.
